Psychedelics were one of the primary reasons so many Boomer-era hippies went East in search of enlightenment. They helped bring Buddhism to the West. Over four decades later they remain a taboo subject, illegal virtually everywhere in the world. As a result the tantalizing relationship between psychedelic use, particularly in a shamanic/spiritual context, and Buddhist meditation has remained under-explored. The intention of this series is to gain a deeper understanding of the relative merits and dangers of the mixing Buddhist contemplative practice and ritualized psychedelic use.
